Common cloth damaging factors

There are several factors that influence durability and appearance of the garments we can mention the following:

  • The use of soaps or detergents containing chlorine/ bleaching agents or other abrasive chemical products.
  • Overexposure to the sun, intense wringing, intensive and vigorous use of hard sponges and/or plastic or metal bristle brush.
  • Inappropriate cycles, temperatures, or time periods in automatic washing or drying machines.
  • Ironing dirty or stained clothing because heat sets stains.
  • Late cleaning of alkaline products (toothpaste, facial soap and shampoos) because they cause discoloration.
